What to do this Weekend?
This Saturday, the 22nd of October, SV Waldhof Mannheim, the local football team, will encounter
Rot-Weiß Essen in the third division of the German soccer league. While Waldhof Mannheim is the
best at-home team in the third division right now, placed 8th in the regular table, RW Essen is only
12th in the current away table while being 14th in the regular table. After their 1:1 draw against
Dynamo Dresden, Essen is looking forward to get 3 points this Saturday, trying to keep their distance
to the relegation seats. Meanwhile, Mannheim lost their last match against SC Freiburg II (2:3) and
needs the win in order to stay close to the top of the table. The match will take place at the CarlBenz stadium in Mannheim at 14 pm.
In this particular matchup, Rot-Weiß Essen is, historically, the favoured team. While Essen won 6 of
the 14 encounters, Mannheim was only able to beat Essen four times. The teams also tied four
times. But, to be fair, the last time these two teams encountered each other was back in 2010,
when RW Essen won 2:0 and a lot has changed since then.
